What is Initiation for Men?
Movement Medicine for Men is an epic 10-day Immersion into the Cycles, Season and Reasons for being alive. It is an intensive that contains all of the key ingredients of INITIATION that has been offered through The School of Movement Medicine for decades and it has a couple of spicy twists to the recipe.
This is the 1st INITIATION for MEN.
We will work with the 9 cycles of the life journey, in the Movement Medicine map: Conception, Birth, Childhood, Puberty, Adolescence, Adulthood, Maturity, Old Age and Death.
It incorporates a 1 night Vision Quest in Nature to invoke a visionary overview of your life and it includes a Dancing With Death Burial Ceremony in which you will spend the night in the grave and invite Death - as a benevolent friend - to revitalise your life.
Intention
The intention of this journey is to support you in the work and play of unravelling, understanding, healing, alchemising and evolving the raw material of your personal HISstory and to liberate you from the misperception that your past will always dictate your future.
It has the potential to work though the arc of time and be inspired by and affect the spirit of your ancestors and descendents; both personal and collective.
It can also enable you to cultivate your wholeness and response-ability to harness the material of your life as an embodied creative artisan that can pass on blessings and wisdom rather than wounds, trauma and unhealthy narratives.
You are a son of the sun, it is your nature to shine
The focus is on bringing awareness, responsibility, fluidity, and ultimately gratitude to your life’s journey and the particularity of the dance of being human in a male body and the associated experiences and stories.

What is 1 night Vision Quest in Nature?
Vision Quest is a sacred journey of self-discovery and transformation, which is older than words. It is a deliberate period of solitude, often in nature, where one steps away from daily routines to commune deeply with Nature - inner and outer. Wilderness becomes the mirror of one’s own wild Soul.
Traditionally rooted in Indigenous spiritual practices, a Vision Quest invites reflection, introspection and a search for clarity, purpose, and guidance. It is a powerful immersion into Self that enables individuals to illuminate their life’s direction, ignite creativity and cultivate a deeper sense of meaning, connection, and authenticity. Ultimately, it is a journey not just to discover answers, but to awaken the capacity to live fully and consciously in alignment with one’s true self.
What is Dancing with Death-Burial Ceremony?
Dancing with Death - Burial Ceremony is an opportunity for recapitulation, a chance to revisit and clean up our personal history, which includes the stories of many generations of our linages back in time.
It is the process of reclaiming energy that is locked up in those past events and interactions. It is opportunity to find peace, acceptance, forgiveness; to take responsibility and offer apology, gratitude and prayers for all beings everywhere.
Ultimately it is an invitation to fully say YES to this one precious life and an invocation of Death specifically as an ally, a benevolent friend.
There are many ceremonies across time, space and culture that invite a deep self reflective engagement with the reality of our mortality as sentient beings. The Burial Ceremony is one such initiation.
It is as much an initiation into life as it is a deep conversation with death. It is as much a deepening into the wild embrace of Mother Earth as it is a surrender to the inevitability of our mortal demise. It is as much the opening of a portal to love and ecstasy as it is an opportunity to fully feel and express our embodied grief and human suffering.
