Meet the teachers

We - Keef and Marold -  have been involved with The School of Movement Medicine since its inception. We were long term apprentices of the founders - Susannah and Ya’Acov Darling Khan and were cohorts of the first Movement Medicine Apprenticeship and Professional Training- 2009-2011 -  and have since gone on to complete all of the Continued Professional Development modules. We are therefore fully qualified to lead all of the advanced practices, processes and pathways towards Professional Training - with the founders -  including Phoenix, Initiation and Apprenticeship.

We are also highly experienced in various other lineages of shamanic practice and you can read more about that in our personal bios and elsewhere on this site. We weave these other approaches alongside our Movement Medicine offerings and create a unique palette of possibilities for you and all the men we work with.

Marold Emmelkamp

I am a Druid, an Animist, a dedicated Movement Medicine teacher and a ceremonialist. I weave together embodiment, ritual and deep presence to guide others on paths of personal and collective transformation.

I bring a grounded and heart-centred approach to my work and create sacred spaces where movement becomes medicine—supporting individuals to reconnect with their bodies, the earth, and the wisdom within.

Rooted in years of immersive training with the School of Movement Medicine, I bring a depth of experience in facilitating conscious dance journeys that are both deeply therapeutic and soulfully expressive.

My offerings blend shamanic principles, neuroscience and creative ritual, empowering participants to move through life with greater awareness, resilience, and authenticity.

I am deeply influenced by the healing and earth-based wisdom of Africa as that was taught to me by Malidoma Patrice Somé, the East Coast Village and Colin Campbell.

I am alsoVision Quest-leader trained by the School of Lost Borders and I have long a lasting shamanic training with Jonathan Horan and Zara Wäldebeck.

Being one of the early organisers, I was at the root of the Wildeman-Festival, a now famous festival for men in the Netherlands.

Concerning men’s work, my primary focuses these days is on the healthy embodiment of sexual energy and sexuality and restoring the connection with our Ancestors and thereby facilitating ancestral healing.

When not teaching or holding ceremonies, I am often to be found, or not found as the case may be, in nature, listening to the rhythms of the land and staying connected to the pulse of life that inspires my life and work.

“Marold provides a strong and safe foundation in which my dance can unfold. He is a reliable guide and creates a space in which I experience freedom, strength, and truth.” Jasper Drent, Movement Medicine teacher

“I often felt numb, didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life, and found it difficult to allow my emotions. Through the workshop and the dance, I moved out of my head and much more into my heart. Now, a month later, I still feel more alive, have more energy, and it is becoming easier to allow and feel my emotions. I feel increasingly at home with myself. The way Marold guided us was, for me, safe, trustworthy, inspiring, and liberating.” Johny Joy, participant

“ We’ve walked with Marold for eighteen years and seen him grow into a teacher of deep integrity, passion, and grounded wisdom. His long-term dedication to Movement Medicine shines through the classes, ceremonies, and retreats he has offered in the Netherlands and Belgium since 2011.

Dancers consistently describe his spaces as safe, transformative, spacious, and touched with humour and earth-based wisdom.

Marold brings a rare blend of experience as an animist, ritualist, healer, gardener, geologist, and student of ancestral pathways and neuroscience. His relationship with nature and ceremony is at the heart of his work, whether on the dance floor or in the Vision Quests and nature immersions he guides. His commitment is evident in everything from supporting Iranian political refugees to cultivating profound spaces for personal growth.

We trust him deeply and are delighted he will be leading the Movement Medicine men’s apprenticeship with Keef Miles. We wholeheartedly recommend him to any man seeking solid, soulful, transformational guidance “ with respect, Ya’Acov & Susannah

Keef Wesolowski Miles

As a group leader and guide, I bring 25 years of experience from multiple modalities. To support emergent soul-centric maturity and full spectrum engagement with life. I bring my ongoing experience as an evolving human being and student of life, wife and daughter. I provide intuitive support, creative inspiration, resilience resourcing, fierce compassion, humour, integrity, kindness and commitment.

I am a Senior Movement Medicine Teacher and Apprenticeship Leader. I have been studying Movement Medicine since it was first birthed into the world and was part of the first Professional training. MM Qualifications: Apprenticeship 2009, Professional Training 2011. Heart & SEER CPD 2016, Ceremony CPD 2017, Embodied Listening CPD 2021, Apprenticeship CPD 2022, Phoenix CPD 2023, Initiation CPD 2024.

Movement Medicine is an essential pillar of all of my offerings alongside the other practices in which I am deeply initiated. I have been teaching as a fully qualified Movement Medicine teacher for over a decade and offer many workshops, immersions and courses as well as 1-1 Mentoring.

I guide from a place of knowing that we are relational beings, we are storytelling beings. I love to inspire passionate purpose and presence, resilience and resourcefulness and ultimately love, compassion and joy. I encourage people to shine their light on the dance floor of their lives - personally and professionally, and to facilitate deepening awareness, response-ability and choicefulness about the narrative lenses through which we perceive and engage with our lives, our relationships and the beautiful planet we live on.

Shamanism is at the core of my life and work. The recognition that nature is our true nature and all life is precious and sacred is central to my philosophy. As well as being a Senior Movement Medicine Teacher, I am an initiate as Son of the Sun on the path of the Great Mother and the Four Elements as guided by shaman XamAM Alba Maria - Terra Mirim, Brazil. I have also journeyed deeply with several indigenous Brazilian tribes. Particularly the Huni Kuin of Acre. I am also a multi-qualified Yoga teacher, and I have studied deeply the work of Bill Plotkin especially Wild Mind and Nature and the Human Soul.

As well as a range of classes, courses, workshops, immersions, intensives, apprenticeships and mentoring programmes for men, I offer equivalent work to women and mixed groups and regularly collaborate with my wife and co-founder of Awakening the Wild- Aluna. Together we offer many nature based gatherings and ceremonies including Cabana Sweat Lodges, Cacao Ceremonies, Dancing with Death Burial Ceremonies and other shamanic immersions.

My soul song manifests through poetry and prose. I am currently writing my first book: The Way of The Dancing Poet -  A Field Guide to Awakening The Inner Poet/Artist, which incorporates an anthology of my poetry, prose and other writings.

I strongly believe that we are all artists and all collaborators in the dance of consciousness. Life at its essence is creative.

Check out patreon.com/DancingPoetKeef to access some amazing content. As well as Pamphlets of Poetry, you will also find audio recordings of Spoken Word, videos and Movement Medicine classes, including embodiment practices designed specifically to Awakening The Inner Artist.

“ We’ve known Keef since the very beginning of Movement Medicine, and his long dedication—from the first Professional Training to more than a decade of teaching—shows in the depth and clarity of his work. His love for the practice is unmistakable, and dancers consistently speak of the inspiration, groundedness, and creative fire he brings to every space he holds.

Keef is a unique blend of Movement Medicine teacher, poet, ritualist, and mentor. His offerings range from workshops and immersions to spoken word performances, DJ mixes, and his ManGROOVE work with men. His training with XamAM in the Path of the Great Mother and the Four Elements adds another layer of power and precision to the ceremonies he guides, including Cabana Sweat Lodges, Medicine Quests, and his collaborations with his wife, Aluna.

Whether through Whole Soul Mentoring, his evolving body of writing, or his vibrant Patreon offerings, Keef brings heart, humour, creativity, and real skill to the path of transformation. We trust him deeply and warmly recommend him to any man drawn to work with him.” with respect, Ya’Acov & Susannah
